To the comfort of the tourism industry in Paris, striking workers on the Eiffel Tower have decided to finish their protest and reopen the historic landmark to the general public.
A workers’ strike had closed the attraction on Tuesday, as 300 staff walked out during negotiations over increases to salaries.
The decision meant the 125,000 who visit the Eiffel Tower an afternoon in the course of the summer months were left with nowhere to move.
Organised by the overall Confederation of Labour union, the strike began on Tuesday morning, with Eiffel Tower employees pressing demands for better working conditions and more pay.
