The 95th session of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Executive Council, meeting in Belgrade, unanimously recommended Taleb Rifai as a nominee for the post of Secretary-General for the four-year-period starting January 2014.
The candidature of Rifai was presented by his country, Jordan, according to the UNWTO statutes.
The recommendation of the UNWTO Executive Council could be submitted to the approaching UNWTO General Assembly for ratification from August 25th-29th, 2013, aat Victoria Falls in Zambia/Zimbabwe.
Rifai has held the placement since January 1st 2010.
