Boeing has begun replacing batteries on its fleet of grounded 787 Dreamliners following approval of the modified design from the Federal Aviation Authority.
All 50 aircraft presently in service worldwide has been grounded since earlier this year following a chain of onboard incidents.
Production of the aircraft has also been halted at Boeing worked to deal with safety concerns.
All Nippon Airways, which operates 17 of the planes, the most important fleet on the planet, can have the batteries replaced on its aircraft first.
The carrier must anticipate approval from various regulators before they are able to begin to fly the planes commercially.
The FAA, which approved the battery design last week, has said that it’ll issue a last directive at the Dreamliner this week.
The plane is the 1st on earth to apply the lithium-ion batteries, which might be lighter, hold more power and recharge more quickly.
