Messe Berlin has announced the appointment of Ingrid Maaß as its new chief operating officer following its latest regular supervisory board meeting. The move follows a choice by the supervisory board, in December 2012, to nominate Christian Göke to succeed the present chief executive, Raimund Hosch, who’s as a result of retire on the end of June. Maaß studied business management, and, following posts with KPMG Consulting, IKB Private Equity and The economic Investment Council, was a board member of CNC Communications & Network Consulting AG in Munich. Travelodge rolls out apprenticeship programme

Hotel chain Travelodge has announced 51 new positions on its junior management apprenticeship programme (JuMP). The 1st phase of recruitment will begin at the beginning of National Apprenticeship Week and supports Travelodge’s growth strategy, that will see it open 14 hotels (1,742 rooms) this year at an investment of £141.5m.  JuMP – the UK’s first budget hotel management apprenticeship programme was launched in 2011 and this year the 1st 16 a degree students and college leavers might be graduating from the programme. The programme has taken on 65 apprentices since launching two years ago, meaning this year’s intake is a record amount for the hotel group. Boeing and Air Lease Corporation have announced an order today for ten 777-300ERs (extended range) airplanes. The order, worth $3.2 billion at current list prices, adds to the growing portfolio of long-haul airplanes for the l. a.-based leasing company. “This order for 777-300ERs might actually help us meet the growing airline demand for long-haul passenger airplanes,” said John Plueger, president and chief operating officer of Air Lease Corporation. “These 777-300ERs will enable our customers to grow and modernise their fleets. “The 777 offers our clients probably the most economical, fuel-efficient and flexible airplane within the 300-400 seat range, suitable for a whole lot of profitable missions.” ALC has ordered 185 airplanes from Boeing including 78 Next-Generation 737s, 80 737 MAXs, 12 787 Dreamliners and 15 777-300ERs.
